Purpose


The Senior Analyst - Government / Regulatory Reporting role is responsible for the timely and accurate regulatory reporting of operational and contractual data on behalf of Avangrid Renewable and its affiliates. The role will manage and ensure overall Regulatory Reporting compliance for all of Avangrid Renewables and affiliates. This includes, but is not limited to, development progression, operational, contractual and trading data to meet regulatory compliance put forth by Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Department of Energy - Energy Information Administration (EIA), Western Renewable Energy Generation Information System (WREGIS) and other agencies. The role is based in Portland,OR, on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reports to meet multiple agency requirements and corporate compliance for Avangrid Renewables and affiliates.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of regulatory filings and reports and ensure they are complete, accurate and consistent with the associated agency precedent and rules.
  • Compile & maintain monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reporting requirements from various regulatory agencies (ie: Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Energy) with strict deadlines and substantial monetary penalties for non-compliance.
  • Coordinate the collection and analysis of large amounts of data obtained from various sources and platforms.
  • Provide detailed analysis and data validation of multiple legal entities complex power transactions and identify discrepancies between large volumes of data from various sources within the Company.
  • Communicate process improvements and data anomalies to Stakeholders/Management.
  • Work closely with Internal Departments to ensure that implementation issues and contract representation in systems are accurate for regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate, develop, and implement process improvements and enhancements to optimize and strengthen controls and analytical capabilities.
  • Work very closely with Front Office, Compliance, and Information Technology groups to ensure that all relevant and required risk analysis products and services are available and continually refined.
  • Maintain a functional system for archiving filed data for easy retrieval.

Skills and Requirements


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher


  • 7+ years' of related experience in energy industry


  • Strong attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to manage projects in a heavily rules based environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills with strong focus on teamwork and interface with a broad range of Stakeholders
  • Responsible for becoming a subject matter expert of the regulatory reporting requirements for energy markets and business function area
  • Must be a self-starting and motivated individual who is able to effectively manage priorities while meeting deadlines for deliverables
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills: formulas, macros, pivot tables
  • Ability to gather, consolidate, analyze and report data accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to analyze project risks and proactively identify solutions with a flexible, creative, and solution-focused outlook on problem solving
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple, concurrent, time-sensitive projects and priorities
