The Senior Director of Practice Solutions is responsible for all features, functionality, use, and management of solutions used within practice operations across the enterprise. This position requires significant healthcare operations experience and working with technology solutions. This leader will have strong domain expertise (as a user and administrator) in electronic health records (EHR), revenue cycle management (RCM), and other third-party systems, and will work to ensure that solutions are designed and managed optimally for our patients and users.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide oversight and leadership of enterprise applications for the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of applications within CAO and MedVanta.
  • In partnership with other solutions and application leaders, manage and lead healthcare and business systems projects and initiatives, provide day to day support or escalation of applications and other 3rd party solutions that integrate or interface with systems like the EMR/EHR, Billing, Scheduling, PMS, CRM, Ticketing, act as an IT Business Partner to operations, clinical, and business teams across the organization.
  • Work with various solutions partners and providers and ensure that projects, deliverables, and service level agreements are met.
  • Conduct or design training and optimization opportunities for our users so that technology solutions are utilized and maximized, as intended.
  • Identify problems and lead cross functional teams to develop fixes, solutions, or work arounds to resolve user issues, or work with vendors on future release to address critical issues.
  • Interface and work with third party applications and solutions providers such as EMR/EHR, Billing, Scheduling, etc., for day-to-day issues and for partnership relationship management.
  • Conduct meetings with staff and users to discuss outstanding issues, work in progress, and anticipated problems or needs.
  • Serves as escalation POC and liaison between team and organization, building strong partnerships with business leaders and the greater user community across the enterprise.
  • Work with incident management/service desk and delivery to implement best practices support.
  • Develop standardized reporting tools and capabilities for functional leaders of the organization natively within the applications or in collaboration with external teams and resources.
  • Participate and lead technology and project management discussions within various groups and committees (documentation, agenda, status).

Requirements & Educational Experience

  • Healthcare technology management strongly desired in large multi-site organizations.
  • Hands on experience with EMR/EHR systems, preferably with Modernizing Medicine, or other major systems like EPIC, Cerner, Allscripts, NextGen, Athenahealth.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, technology, healthcare administration or a related field: significant experience may be considered in lieu of the bachelor’s degree requirement.
  • 5-10 years of related technical and solutions experience in a healthcare setting that utilizes various software applications and solutions.
  • Experience in ITIL, PMO, DevOps, Lean/Agile environments.
  • Industry specific certification: experience may be considered in lieu of certification.

Competencies/Required Skills & Abilities

  • Skilled in business, IT and clinical operations, cross-functional team building, strategic planning, business/IT Alignment, process improvement, compliance, and change management.
  • Hands on application and solutions support experience in a healthcare setting and environment.
  • Working knowledge of core and ancillary clinical applications (EMR, EHR, PMS, Billing, Imaging, Scheduling, Patient Reminders, Population Health, Engagement).
  • Working knowledge of core and ancillary business systems and applications (HRIS, CRM, ERP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of various healthcare products and solutions typical in multi-site healthcare organizations.
  • Understanding modern data flows from one system to another using FHIR, API, HL7, and other middleware/integration solutions and management engines.
  • Familiarity with key clinical and financial data/KPI’s, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Ability to drive informed decisions, resolve challenges, and remove or remediate barriers.
  • Experience using online project management and collaboration tools.
  • Strong Analytical Skills - ability to collect and analyze information, problem solve, and make sound technical and business decisions.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills - ability to develop relationships and collaborate and influence in hybrid environments with multiple project team members across various domains.
  • Confident, independent thinker and strong decision-making ability when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Demonstrates ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and projects in a growing environment.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as needed.
  • Always exudes professionalism.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when performing front desk duties.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting.
  • Adequate hearing to perform duties in person and over telephone.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading materials from printed sources and computer screens.
