The Government Compliance Officer is primarily responsible for reporting of invention disclosures to the federal government using iEdison or via direct contact with agencies, including preparing and filing documents for all government supported invention disclosures and all follow-on reporting obligations as required under the Bayh-Dole Act. Duties include reviewing invention disclosures for reference to federal and non-federal support, follow up with innovators, sending documents and reports to governmental agencies (mainly NIH) to maintain institutional compliance with Bayh-Dole requirements, as well as performing similar duties for non-federal funding, and updating internal patent database to document completion of compliance requirements.

This individual will be the primary point of contact with funding agencies for compliance reporting of intellectual property and will oversee backup compliance staff including verification data integrity in internal database and government database. The Government Compliance Officer will also be the primary backup for patent docketing which requires knowledge of patent prosecution and includes paralegal duties. Paralegal experience and familiarity with sponsored research agreements and patent prosecution required. The Government Compliance Officer will supervise one direct report.


Bachelor's degree with 2 to 3 years of experience required; 1 year of paralegal experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted per university guidelines.
