As part of the Boeing Defense, Space and Security, Autonomous Systems division, the Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS) program is seeking an Experienced Software Engineer (Level 3) to provide support to the Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS) program in Huntington Beach, CA . The business further supports customer missions and payloads needs through proprietary programs and by providing acoustics systems, integrated shipboard systems, tactical communications systems and advanced mission solutions.

The GEDMS program, lead out of Huntington Beach, CA, consists of virtual and geographically distributed team members. The GEDMS team is responsible for the design and sustainment of a family of ship-wide network system variants that include equipment for ruggedized switching, routing, and signal processing. The system is designed for use on U.S. Navy Surface Combatants and foreign ships under Foreign Military Sales.
This engineer will be instrumental in performing a high visibility task assigned by the US Navy customer, the development of software to implement network protocols and cyber controls needed for the new GEDMS cybersecurity architecture. The engineer will also be responsible for providing Software Engineering support for major design variants: 3G GEDMS (Cyber Enclave), 2G GEDMS, FODMS, and DMS. In addition, responsibilities will include software upgrades to address fleet issues and enhancements for the sailor.

Position Responsibilities:
Candidate will work with GEDMS senior software engineers in the development of networking and cyber software and Applications for US Navy ships.
Develop and maintain code, and integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
Develop software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, execute test procedures and document test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
Develop, select, tailor and deploy software processes, tools and metrics

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Huntington Beach, CA.

This position requires the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience 1-3):
2+ years knowledge and experience in developing custom device drivers and kernel modules for the Linux operating system. 2+ years’ experience and knowledge of the Linux Kernel architecture and key areas of implementation relating to device drivers. 3+ years’ in-depth experience with UDP/TCP IP programming. Experience and knowledge in developing applications utilizing real-time operating systems (e.g. vxWorks). Bachelor’s degree in related field

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience 1-3):
Has good skills in identifying and solving complex networking or hardware issues. Has experience with IP networking protocols (ICMP, ARP, IGMP, RIP, DHCP etc.) and techniques. Familiarity and experience with network and software cybersecurity practices

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $112,200 – $151,800
