Jefferson County, WA Public Works Department, Solid Waste Division is seeking a full-time equipment operator for a Solid Waste Operator I to fill a 90-day temporary vacancy.

This position works at the Transfer Station just outside Port Townsend and duties include operating various equipment such as a loader, tractor trailer and knuckle boom crane, maintaining equipment, directing customers. Job requires physical labor up to 10 hours/day, outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Individual needs to be able to perform this job successfully in each essential duty. The requirements are listed on the Operator I and are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Applicants must possess a high school diploma/GED with two (2) years’ demonstrated experience in heavy equipment operation. Possession of a WA State Class A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.
Compensation
Because this is a temporary position, there are no additional benefits. Starting pay is between $21.47 and $22.56 depending on experience. Full pay range is $21.47-$26.81.
Work Week
Flexible schedule depending on applicant’s availability.
