Position Overview
The Sr. HR Generalist will play a critical role in supporting the execution of TC Transcontinental-Brooklyn site HR strategy and has the drive and ability to grow into an HR Manager role within TC Transcontinental. He/She will be responsible for providing a broad range of HR support to Leadership Team and overall team members, with responsibilities related to talent acquisition, on-boarding, payroll, coaching/training of People Leaders, recognition, engagement and performance management. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Human Resources and is a key partner to the business, working to diagnose issues, recommend, develop, and implement appropriate HR programs and processes which drive positive business results.
What You Will Be Doing Day-to-Day

  • Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable PPE and Food Safety policies and procedures, wear steel tipped shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets, etc.
  • A strong relationship builder and influencer with employees and management alike. Live our Values and be a Champion for our culture.
  • Lead the full-cycle talent acquisition process for TC Brooklyn, including new hire onboarding program for new employees.
  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as benefits, leave administration, payroll, and recruitment to resolve any matters that may arise.
  • Assist with cultural improvement initiatives, wellness activities, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Counsel people leaders regarding company policy, procedures and workplace issues. Provide coaching and resolution regarding employee relations issues.
  • Identify and recommend trends in HR and formulate recommendations to improve processes or plans that address talent issues (i.e., proactive training, on-boarding, retention strategies, career development, etc).
  • Provide counsel to management in regard to local/federal employment law and legislation changes. Support roll-out of compliance initiatives within TC Brooklyn.
  • Works closely with site leaders on effective workforce planning, recruitment & selection methods, pipeline development, interviewing methodologies and hiring process.
  • Proactively identify risks and propose suggestions for effective communication and process improvement.

Other Skills We Hope To See:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or other related field; OR equivalent experience required.
  • Eight or more years’ experience in HR field.
  • PHR or SPHR, MBTI/DISC or PROSCI certifications a plus.
  • Experience of recruiting in a manufacturing/unionized environment required. Experience working with applicant tracking, LMS and HR systems preferable.
  • Advanced knowledge of country/state employment laws and workers compensation/safety protocols.
  • Strong oral & written communication skills, including the confidence to present, influence and collaborate at the leadership level.
  • Strong analytical skills to think strategically, analyze business data that tells a story and develop holistic HR solutions to address talent gaps.
  • Have an eye for spotting talent and understand trends within human capital/workplace design. Growth mindset with a passion for your craft that is easily recognizable.
  • Flexibility in work hours.
  • Experience with a rapid and complex changing work environment. Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive HR processes and to deliver high quality projects in a growing environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint with strong background in running reports and analyzing the data.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exemplify professional behavior and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
  • Self-directed with an ability to prioritize projects, combined with the ability to provide and receive direction.

Compensation:

  • Pay Transparency: Min $85,000 – Max $99,000 + bonus
