Substitute Child Care Assistant (UAH-Huntsville, AL) Job at Spur Jobs
Spur is looking for enthusiastic and approachable candidates to fill the Substitute Child Care Assistant position for children ages 3 months-5 years old for the UAH Early Learning Center. The ideal candidate for the job would have the ability to work with young children assisting with daily task and learning programs Experience in working with young children, knowledge of infant or child CPR and First Aide, knowledge of DHR minimum standards for daycares and coursework in child development or education is preferred but not required. Candidate must enjoy working with young children as well as have a firm understanding of how to ensure an optimal and safe environment.
- feeding children
- diapering and/or assisting with potty training
- administering basic first-aid for injuries
- interacting with and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children, including those with special needs.
- Assist children with self-care needs including toileting/diapers, feeding and positioning.
- Interact frequently & positively with all children
- Assist other classroom personnel in the preparation and implementation of classroom activities
- Encourage language and independent functioning using positive reinforcement
- Maintain safety of children at all times
- Follow policies & procedures of the UAH Early Learning Center
- Adhere to all standards for licensed child care centers (safety/sanitation) and NAEYC accreditation guidelines
- Assist with cleaning of toys and classroom materials, light room cleaning and laundry as needed
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
- Must be able to arrive at work reliably and on-time (when a work schedule has been requested and agreed upon)
- Must be able to maintain student and parent confidentiality and communicate respectfully with all children, parents and ELC staff.
- Experience working with young children
- Degree or coursework in child development or education
- Knowledge of infant or child CPR and First-Aid
- Knowledge of DHR minimum standards for daycares.
Position Staffing: As Needed
Pay Rate: $12.00 - $14.00 p/hr
