JOB DESCRIPTION
Substitute Food Service Worker - On-Call Basis

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrate successful experience working with students.
• Evidence of ability to be firm but kind, caring but consistent, patient, and vigilant.
• Evidence of ability to accept direction from supervisor and work as a team member with other food service staff.
• Proven record of interpersonal skills with students and coworkers.
• Proven record of good organizational skills, punctuality, and responsibility.
• Evidence of an understanding of and willingness to abide by confidentiality policy and practice of the district.
• Demonstrated ability to lift loads up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, no back problems, and pre-employment screening by certification by a licensed physician.
• Other qualities as deemed appropriate.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to clean lunchroom tables and maintain a clean lunchroom during the school lunch period
• Ability to move and put up and take down lunchroom tables
• Ability to assist teachers to implement appropriate lunchroom behavior and manage student behavior
• Work in the kitchen after lunch to assist in preparing the kitchen for the following day
• Work in the dish room on a rotating basis with lunchroom supervision
• Perform duties as assigned

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:

Kitchen Supervisor. As are all district employees, this position is under the general supervision of the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Current substitute hourly rate. No other benefits. No guarantee of hours.

It is the prerogative of the District to assign staff to best meet the needs of the District.

Pre-employment screening is required for this position.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Calculator, cash register, copy machine, fax machine, telephone/voice mail, oven, dishwasher, and other kitchen equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee constantly works around others, works with the public, and works inside. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is frequently required to walk and continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and waist while performing the duties of this position. The employee will occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.01 per hour
