Summer Camp Staff- Hiring Immediately- Syracuse Area- Project Explore Teen

Do you like working with adults? Are you looking for a fun and rewarding summer job, one where you can spend a lot of time outside and help campers develop life-long friendships? Exceptional Family Resources is looking for reliable and energetic staff for our summer day camp, supporting adults with developmental disabilities.

We are hosting 3-4 sites in Onondaga County this summer in the Syracuse area. Our summer program, Project Explore Teen, is provided for campers aged 13-19 in a 1:2 group setting. There are typically 10-12 campers and 5-6 staff each day of program.

Staff responsibilities include engaging with campers to ensure everyone has a great camp experience, providing supervision and ensuring the campers' safety, providing transportation, and assisting with personal care as needed,

Successful applicants will be outgoing and energetic, as well as able to work effectively in a group setting. Staff will participate in activities with the campers and should enjoy activities such as swimming, hiking, arts & crafts, and playing games. Each day is spent exploring the community, visiting parks, beaches, and amusement parks.

Hours and days of work: Camp runs June 26th - August 18, 2023, with 2 mandatory training mid-June.

Staff work Monday through Friday, 11:30pm-5:15pm and 8:30-5:15pm on Wednesdays (to accommodate longer trips such as Sea Breeze and Boldt Castle)

Starting pay: Starting pay is $15/hour

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old by June 15th
• Ability to work effectively in a community-based group setting
• Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills
• No experience required though experience working with people with disabilities preferred
• New York State Driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance is required; acceptable driving record required
• Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community
