JOB SUMMARY: This position provides technical knowledge and leadership on the inspection and testing of manufactured product. Oversees Inspectors and Technicians in the development application and maintenance of quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products. Gathers data, conducts analysis, and leads root cause analysis and corrective action activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads and develops quality inspectors and technicians. Nurtures an environment that reflects the ideals and behaviors of the Click Bond Way.
  • Supports concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing Quality Assurance and the customer.
  • Designs and implements methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Collaborates with manufacturing, planning, engineering, sales, and supply chain to address problems and improve processes
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the AS9100 and ISO 9000 quality assurance requirements.
  • Promotes and executes quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents, and reports.
  • Assists in process certification.
  • Reviews customer’s purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensures that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.
  • Develops, executes, and analyzes quality reporting measures with statistical analysis and the use of other quality tools.
  • Reports to management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
  • Reviews suppliers purchase orders and establishes supplier quality requirements.
  • Participates in internal and external quality audits.
  • Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assures that effective corrective action is implemented.
  • Develops training plans, compiles, writes, and delivers training materials on quality standards and activities.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, specifications, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations, and broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to apply mathematical fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree or higher education in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience within quality engineering, design engineering, or manufacturing engineering preferred. (Education and certifications will be considered in lieu of experience).
  • Strong computer skills including QA applications and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and database applications.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises inspectors, and technicians in the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
