Position Description
The Texas Policy Evaluation Project (TxPEP) at the University of Texas at Austin is looking for part-time, temporary research support for fall 2022 and winter 2023. These contractor research positions will assist our team by facilitating focus groups of promotoras (community health care workers) in El Paso, Texas.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Attending and facilitating 2-4 focus groups in Spanish or English, on weekend days or weekday evenings
  • Communicating regularly with the research team about progress updates and needs
  • Participating in team discussion regarding focus group content as requested

Anticipated start date: January 1, 2023

Total work time: Between 25 and 50 hours, depending on number of facilitated groups, to be completed no later than April 30, 2023.

Job Type: Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $25-30 per hour, depending on experience | Benefits: Not benefits eligible

Schedule: Intermittent hours, up to ~10 hours/week when focus groups are occurring. Some weekend and evening hours to attend/facilitate focus groups.

Work Location: El Paso, Texas

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with group facilitation
  • Strong familiarity with local geography, communities, and terminology
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to maintain research subject confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Full fluency in English and Spanish
  • Experience leading focus groups for research purposes
  • Experience in sexual and reproductive health, rights, justice
  • Experience with promotoras

About TxPEP
The Texas Policy Evaluation Project (TxPEP) is a collaborative group of university-based investigators who evaluate the impact of legislation in Texas related to women’s reproductive health. Based at The University of
Texas at Austin Population Research Center, the project began in 2011 and includes collaborators from UT Austin as well as other universities and research organizations. TxPEP’s mission is to conduct methodologically principled research assessing the impact of reproductive health policies and programs in the state of Texas and to communicate the results to a broad audience through peer-reviewed scientific publications, research briefs, and other materials.
