Job Summary:

As part of the 988/National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Long Island Crisis Center is searching for a 988 Training Director to oversee training of our 988 phone counselors. The ideal candidate is motivated, a team player and thrives in a fast-paced environment.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates initial and ongoing training of 988 counselors incorporating best practices and recommendations from 988/NSPL
  • Represent LICC at events educating the community about 988
  • Conduct community education programs addressing suicide prevention
  • Remains informed on current professional literature and trends in the mental health field and participates in the ongoing development of resource and referral manuals
  • Ensures staff receives supervision and guidance to adhere to the NSPL best practices, guidelines and operational requirements
  • Maintain training records for all staff, including managing and maintaining e-learning system accounts
  • Manage database of all internal and external training and presentations for 988 staff

Skills/Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Technologically proficient; ability to navigate digital platforms
  • Ability to provide open and honest feedback in a courteous and professional manner

Education and Experience:

  • Masters in Mental Health, Social Work, Education or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years training experience
  • Background in Crisis Intervention a plus

Schedule:

  • Hybrid work environment – must be available to work 3 days a week in Bellmore office
  • Flexible schedule – 40 hours weekly/2 nights required
  • Must be available as part of on-call team for consultation with counselors when needed
