Job Summary:
As part of the 988/National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Long Island Crisis Center is searching for a 988 Training Director to oversee training of our 988 phone counselors. The ideal candidate is motivated, a team player and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Facilitates initial and ongoing training of 988 counselors incorporating best practices and recommendations from 988/NSPL
- Represent LICC at events educating the community about 988
- Conduct community education programs addressing suicide prevention
- Remains informed on current professional literature and trends in the mental health field and participates in the ongoing development of resource and referral manuals
- Ensures staff receives supervision and guidance to adhere to the NSPL best practices, guidelines and operational requirements
- Maintain training records for all staff, including managing and maintaining e-learning system accounts
- Manage database of all internal and external training and presentations for 988 staff
Skills/Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Technologically proficient; ability to navigate digital platforms
- Ability to provide open and honest feedback in a courteous and professional manner
Education and Experience:
- Masters in Mental Health, Social Work, Education or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years training experience
- Background in Crisis Intervention a plus
Schedule:
- Hybrid work environment – must be available to work 3 days a week in Bellmore office
- Flexible schedule – 40 hours weekly/2 nights required
- Must be available as part of on-call team for consultation with counselors when needed
