Underground Lineworker – CDL Drivers’ License Class A Preferred

DEPARTMENT: Electric Operations, Maintenance & Construction

LOCATION: Dorchester, MA

STARTING RATE OF PAY: $34.97 p/hr

CURRENTLY POSTED HOURS: Various Shifts

**Union Represented Position**

The Underground Lineworker is responsible for the inspecting, installing, constructing, maintaining, and repairing of underground plant and equipment. The Underground Lineworker is responsible for handling functions associated with electric cable & conduit installation. In the Lineworker position, employees operate trucks and equipment of any size in conjunction with inspecting, installing, connecting, disconnecting and repair of cable, conductors, and other plant and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • Associate Degree in Electrical Power Utility Technology Preferred.

Experience

  • Must have 2 years of electrical, mechanical, or related technical experience
  • Must have demonstrated ability in electric systems as evidenced by successfully passing knowledge-based exam and physical pre-screening.
  • Must demonstrate an interest in and aptitude for splicing, cable, and conduit work and ability in underground electric systems.
  • Must pass a D.O.T. physical.
  • Must pass EEI testing (CAST test) and successful completion of a technical prescreen and behavioral interview.
  • Must have a work history that demonstrates safe work habits.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Massachusetts License to Operate Motor Vehicles and a record of safe driving habits
  • Valid CDL Driver’s License or equivalent Military Commercial Driver’s License strongly preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Ability and willingness to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and at times for extended periods.
  • Experience working in confined spaces preferred.
