JOB SUMMARY:
The UX/Human Factor Engineer is responsible for creating the design and redesign of products within the ZEISS portfolio to deliver the corporate brand promise of enabling doctors to ”see beyond to realize their ambitions”. As part of the global team of product managers, technical leads and engineers, the UX/ Human Factor Engineer develops user interaction specifications and manages the design project plan including creation of UI prototype interfaces.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Support multi- disciplinary teams in their contributions to an excellent user experience for Zeiss products and platforms.
  • Participate in developing User Experience specifications for platforms and products
  • Support definition and implementation of user needs from Product Management
  • Lead the iterative process of formative testing and heuristic analysis using mockups and prototypes to create designs that meet the needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Work directly with customers, product management, clinical subject matter experts and hardware and software engineers to design solutions that balance cost, schedule and customer benefit priorities.
  • Create validation plans and lead design validation activities for product releases
  • Participate in the development of workflow and risk documentation
  • Conduct user research to help guide product roadmaps as the voice of the customer
  • Take ownership of the design of a single system component.
  • Able to review design component within specialty team
  • Setup and conduct all phases of formative evaluation studies
  • Able to translate stakeholder feedback to design improvements and requirements.
  • Support team with design trade-off analysis.
  • Build design artifacts with minimal supervision.
  • Able to refine and execute formative evaluation plans.
  • Work with the team to compare design options.
  • Able to report on formative evaluation test results
  • Conduct usability validation studies
  • Participate in assessing product risk
REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS/BA in product design, industrial design, cognitive psychology, human factors engineering, human-computer interaction or a related field required.
  • Knowledge of phases of UX design and development
  • Familiarity with the healthcare domain and medical devices software preferred
  • Proficiency in tools used in the creation of design artifacts, such as Axure, Balsamiq, Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, or similar
  • Strong communications (written and verbal), negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and work in rapidly changing environment
  • Knowledge of project planning and execution
SALARY:
The annual salary range for this position:
  • SF Bay Area $103,200 - $129,000
  • The salary offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
  • This position is also eligible for a performance bonus.
