Victim Advocate - Sheriff's Office Job at Hampton County Government
Hampton County is currently seeking a full time Victim Advocate in the Sheriff’s Office. Responsibilities will include providing assistance to victims and witnesses of crimes, assisting victims throughout the criminal justice process, and performing related work as required. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and consequences under general supervision.
The Victim Advocate performs Victim Assistance administrative / clerical work as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, etc. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED supplemented by formal training, special courses or self-education that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training in social work, counseling or closely related field. Must possess Basic Law Enforcement certification and valid SC driver’s license. Must meet other requirements as set forth in applicable South Carolina statutes and regulations. State certification as a Victim Assistance Specialist is desirable.
