WATERSPORTS DIRECTOR

Pali Adventures, www.paliadventures.com, a best-in-class one-of-a-kind specialty summer camp, located in Southern California, is seeking a dynamic, creative, out of the box thinking director to lead us into the future.

Brief Description: The Watersports Specialty Director position at Pali Adventures is a supervisory role with the responsibility of planning, implementing and supervising all of the activities within the Water sports specialty program(water skiing, knee boarding, wake boarding, wake surfing, jet skiing, motorboat driving, etc.) as well as the training of staff. The Specialty Director is also expected to monitor the overall safety of all things related to the above-mentioned activities, including maintenance concerns, equipment integrity and general staff instruction while at the activity sites. The Specialty Director will work directly with the Program Directors to maintain a high level of integrity while the Water sports program is in operation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 
  Must have prior experience facilitating waterfront activities.
• Must have prior experience motorboat driving and towing a variety of equipment.
• Must be a strong swimmer.
• Must have a lifeguard certification from a recognized provider.
• Ability to supervise/maintain a variety of water sport related elements and activities.
• Ability to supervise large groups of participants.
• Ability to help train staff during orientation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be a positive leader with strong supervisory and management skills.
• Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate (verbally and written) concerns, feedback and information to staff, administration and parents.
• Understand and apply pertinent personnel policies, laws, rules and regulations.
• Must demonstrate good judgment and decision-making ability.
• Must have initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be approachable.
• Must be a 100% organized.
• Must be flexible and 100% committed to the excellence of Pali Adventures Summer Camp.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

• 
  Plan, implement and assess 15 hours of programming (3 hours each morning, Monday through Friday) each week for up to 34campers.
• Report directly to Program Directors.
• Attend Pali Adventures orientation and training (May 23-June 10, 2023).
• Responsible for set-up and pack down of equipment when activity sites are scheduled for use.
• Relay pertinent program information to staff in a clear and concise manner.
• Provide constructive feedback and guidance throughout the season to general staff during activity site operations.
• Carry out daily activities and operations of Pali Adventures in accordance with the 2023 Camp Staff Job Description.
• Other duties as assigned.

TRAINING

• Work with Program Directors to train staff in their roles while at watersport activity sites.
• Willingness to continue advanced trainings and perform in service trainings.

MAINTENANCE

• Properly care for all water sport related safety and program equipment.
• Frequently tech-check all program and safety equipment to ensure integrity. Checks should be performed every time equipment is set-up and used.
• Perform periodic maintenance on equipment or activity sites when issues or concerns arise.

Compensation & Dates of Employment

• Summer season: May 23rd, 2023- August 14th, 2023
• $10,000-$15,000 DOE paid out bi-monthly following training.
