The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia are a community of Catholic women who have committed their lives to God as followers of Saints Francis and Clare. We operate Assisi House, a 125-bed multi-level care facility for retired sisters in need of medical support and care.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Wellness Services Manager to lead our new Wellness Services Department. The Manager will supervise two Wellness Services Coordinators. Together, this team will address the wellness needs of sisters who are living independently (or independently with some services) - on campus or within the greater community - who do not require the more advanced services and medical care provided at Assisi House.

Position Summary:

The Wellness Services Manager carries out responsibilities and interacts with all individuals in accordance with the mission and values of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia.

The Manager leads in facilitating a broad holistic program of services for sisters living independently and in small communities.

The duties of this position are accomplished through direct staff supervision of two coordinators and via collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

The Wellness Services Manager must be flexible and able to operationalize a plan for meeting the needs of sisters as they unfold. The Manager must be able to work with the Congregational Leadership Team to accomplish the goals of the position. In addition, the Manager must be willing to research governmental programs available for meeting the sisters’ needs.

Essential Functions of the Position

· Works closely with the Congregational Leadership Team and key staff, including the Administrator of Assisi House, to address the health and well-being needs of the sisters via a collaborative approach.

· Hires and provides leadership and management of Wellness Services Department staff. Encourages their success through mentoring, guidance, and on-going professional education.

· Works with the Leadership Team, Finance Director, and Assistant Finance Director to develop and monitor a departmental budget.

· Keeps current regarding trends and best practices in health care delivery and public and community programs; ensures that Wellness Services Department staff is kept sufficiently abreast, as well.

· Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with leadership of health care facilities where sisters reside (temporary or long term), and with wellness education providers.

· Develops and manages care policies and procedures for decision-making based on congregation priorities, best practices, and evolving realities. Ensures consistent implementation of these policies and procedures, and evaluates periodically to access needs for their modification.

· Assesses, develops and coordinates a system to oversee 24-hour notification of emergencies.

· Develops congregation-wide programs as necessary for meeting needs of our sisters.

· Maintains management systems, statistics, budget, and use of government programs and provides reports for inclusion in an annual report.

· Oversees the partnership with Neumann University with the annual assessments of our sisters over the age of 80 in collaboration with the Wellness Services Coordinators.

· Posts a sister’s hospitalization on OSF Connect with her permission.

· Encourages participation in activities provided on-site at Assisi House, as appropriate.

· Fulfills other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a medical, social work, or wellness field.

· Five years of relevant experience with demonstrated positive impact. Prior experience in geriatrics a plus.

· Good staff management skills.

· Basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).

· Ability to drive and travel as needed.

· Knowledge of or ability to learn healthcare guidelines and mandates.
