50 West Vineyards is a farm winery located on Route 50 just past the historic town of Aldie in Middleburg, Virginia. Our tasting room and vineyards sit high on a bluff offering stunning views of the Bull Run Mountain range.

We grow fruit on four farms in Northern Virginia including 50 West. We are proud of our reputation for growing delicious fruit to make exceptional wine. As farmers and vintners, our goal is to produce lovely wines while being gentle on the land. We combine old world winemaking techniques in a modern state of the art solar powered wine facility. Job Description:

50 West Vineyards is looking for friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic associates with a passion for wine, food and people. Exceptional customer service and communication skills are essential.

Wine Educators will provide guests with a warm and welcoming atmosphere designed to educate and excite them about 50 West Vineyards’ estate wines. Wine Educators will use their knowledge of wines, winemaking, and 50 West Vineyards’ mission to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience for our members and guests through active listening and world-class hospitality.

A desire to expand wine knowledge is critical to this position. Wine Educators will enjoy the benefit of regular educational interactions with the winemaking staff and other onsite wine experts promoting an atmosphere of continuous learning.

Compensation & Benefits:

This is a full-time position providing an hourly rate of $11-$16/hr base PLUS TIPS. Benefits include: 10 days of paid time off, 401(k) with matching employer contributions, and health insurance.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provide an exceptional, end-to-end service experience for each visitor by greeting and welcoming all guests in a warm and sincere manner; doing everything possible to ensure a memorable and pleasant guest experience
• Create a unique experience for each guest by engaging them on the wine/flights/tastings available and assisting them in selecting wines that fit the guest’s wine preferences
• Demonstrate general understanding of the wine portfolio and winemaking processes unique to 50 West Vineyards
• Upsell and cross-sell wines and merchandise, including quantity discounts
• Promote the wine club and accurately convey all information regarding the club to guests
• Prepare the Tasting Room for the day’s activities
• Participate and assist with special hospitality events that occur at the winery
• Accurately handle purchasing transactions, including operating POS, accounting for daily sales, and processing returns or discounts
• Routinely assist in the cleaning of glasses/dishware and other Tasting Room necessities
• Keep the tasting room and all guest areas safe, clean, and neat
• Accurately track wine inventory/usage daily
• Stock, clean, and close the Tasting Room at the end of the day
• Participate in company-sponsored wine educational and development opportunities

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills
• Weekend and holiday hours are required
• 1-3 years of hospitality and customer service experience
• Previous wine knowledge and desire to learn more about wine and the winemaking processes
• Ability to operate a cash register and be comfortable using our technology including iPads for ordering
• Ability to lift and move 40 pounds repeatedly and walk/stand for long periods of time
• Ability to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to effectively stock wine and follow set-up and break down procedures

Pay: $11.00 - $16.00 per hour
