Accountability Objective
The Head Volleyball Coach will primarily focus on fundraising and recruiting student athletes for the development of the volleyball program with the expectation to field a competitive team beginning the 2023-24 season. The part-time position will be utilized to develop a plan to reintroduce volleyball as a NJCAA sport at DACC. The plan should include, but is not limited, to the following: sport/team goals; budget request to recruit and support a volleyball team in the 2023-24 season; scholarship/roster size and recruitment goals; marketing/social media ideas; equipment needed/requested; NJCAA compliance plan; team training and development outline; current and future coaching requirements; and student-athlete success measures that will be reinforced. Candidates must be committed to building a program that values both the academic and competitive successes of our student athletes.
Required Qualifications
- B.S./B.A. Degree in a related field.
- Successful experience coaching at the community college level.
- Experience with and mentoring young people.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from varying levels of abilities, socio-economic backgrounds and ages
- Ability to present information to small and large groups of students/prospective students and parents.
- Ability to work a varied schedule
- Working knowledge of computers and Internet resources
Desired Qualifications
- M.S./M.A. Degree in related field.
- Experience in recreation or student activities.
- Work experience at the post-secondary education level.
- Working knowledge of DACC academic programs and services

Recruit and retain a roster of 12-15 student athletes annually, including international students.
Develop a plan to prepare student athletes to compete at the highest level through training, practices, and other appropriate activities.
Evaluate potential student athletes to promote individual and (potential) team development.
Supervise practice sessions when approved/allowed.
Establish fundraising events and opportunities to support and potentially build a viable Women’s volleyball program and student-athlete resources.
Monitor academic progress of potential student athletes following eligibility and successful course/degree completion strategies.
Learn about college and community resources to assist student athletes in overcoming obstacles to completing coursework and day-to-day student-athlete issues.
Maintain athletic records and scholarship lists when sport is reinstated, preparing to meet NJCAA requirements.
Assist with athletic-related events and regional and national tournaments.
Coordinate summer camps for area elementary, middle, and high school students to grow interest for Women’s Volleyball, DACC athletics, and the College as a whole.
Communicate program development and sport/athlete potential via meetings, social media posts, and news releases to grow the program and recruit future student athletes.
Help promote Danville Area Community College and athletics in general by speaking to local civic and service organizations.
Communicate with the Athletic Director any issues or concerns with program development.
