The hours for this position allow you to select one of two shifts: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Day shift selection includes the responsibility to cover for the second shift when needed (with advance notice). It is an on-site position. All candidates must be available to work in person at our downtown Lincoln office. Free off-street parking is available.

General Function of the Application Support Technician/Operator Position:

Persons employed in this position are responsible for, but not limited to, providing application‑related support to all employees, operating mainframe computer and all associated equipment to provide others access to the computer resources, and make company information available in the form of reports and data files on a timely and accurate basis.

Application Support Technician/Operator Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain technical knowledge and understanding of applications.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for supported applications (implementation design documents, support activities, etc.).
  • Provide support to FM employees regarding internal websites.
  • Handle application support tickets, and related emails and follow through.
  • Provide application-related customer support.
  • Assists and/or facilitates testing phases for applications.
  • Prepare reports and spreadsheets as requested.
  • Support batch processes, monitor system stability, and communicate outages..
  • Serve as Computer Operator (first or second shift) as coordinated by the department manager.
  • Execute batch jobs by following Run Instructions and Operator Manual guidelines.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all reports and data files generated from batch jobs. Perform basic printer functions such as loading paper and changing toner.
  • Process computer output, including balancing, printing, and distribution.
  • Report actual or suspected equipment malfunctions to designated person or company.
  • Maintain security of the Information Technology department, especially during the second shift due to the limited number of personnel onsite.
  • Report inaccurate or inefficient procedures to the appropriate person.
  • Ensure confidentiality of data by adhering to distribution and retention protocol.
  • Regular and timely attendance in the office is an essential function of the job. This position is not eligible for the hybrid work-from-home policy.

Application Support Technician/Operator Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Two years of technical school background in computer information technology preferred with 18 - 24 months experience as a Computer Operator or equivalent combination of education, training, and work-related experience.
  • Proficient in the use of all relevant equipment.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to plan and organize work without direct supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are a must.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
