We are seeking a talented AWS DevOps Engineer with 4-8 years hands-on experience to work with our C2IMERA (Command and Control Incident Management Emergency Response Application) team in our Newport News, VA, office and at Langley Air Force Base. A potential for a 25% remote work is an option.

C2IMERA is a cutting-edge web application used around the world and designed to give Air Force leadership improved situational awareness during day-to-day and emergency response activities. Whether tracking active shooter incidents or hurricanes or plane crashes where uptime and accuracy are paramount, the system uses multiple highly scalable cloud services and web technologies. This along with custom developed applications are used to ensure optimal performance for the end user regardless of system demands. This opportunity will be working with the C2IMERA Operations Team to develop and maintain the cloud infrastructure in support of an ever growing user base.

Additionally, C2IMERA is one of the flagship programs of the Leidos Software Factory, a collection of Leidos locations dedicated to software development. These facilities were built from the ground up with software development in mind. This provides Leidos the ability to reconfigure and customize the space for the kinds of challenges that software development can present; with quiet areas for focus and collaboration areas to work with others. The C2IMERA team and the Leidos Software Factory as a whole are geographically diverse. This naturally lends itself to an asynchronous work environment that promotes flexibility.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Use Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket/Git, and Slack to manage work and collaborate with other teams.

  • Work with local and remote software engineers to create, monitor, and maintain multiple Cloud deployments at various classification levels and provide Cloud Engineering support leveraging existing Commercial off the Shelf (COTS), Government off the Shelf (GOTS), and open source components, as well as implement new technologies.

  • Provide essential feedback to software engineers on the deployment and performance of newly created software and tools.

  • Provide immediate technical support necessary to meet critical operational requirements to include schedule flexibility needed to address issues as they arise which may require after hours or on call support.

  • Regularly review system logs, identify errors, and convey findings to others on the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 4+ years of related experience; years of experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services and cloud computing and with logging tools such as Splunk, AWS Cloudwatch, or other syslog tools.

  • Current DoD 8570 compliant certification (such as CompTIA Security+ CE or CISSP).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.

  • Experience troubleshooting software and/or hardware failures.

  • Familiarity with basic web technologies including HTML, CSS, XML, REST, JSON, SOAP, and WSDL.

  • Familiarity with web application and server technologies, such as Apache Tomcat, JBoss, LAMP stack, etc.

  • Experience with JavaScript and JS frameworks such as React.Experience working with Cloud technologies to build scalable web applications.

  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and practices to quickly iterate on new software designed to meet mission goals.

  • Knowledge of software version control systems such as Git.Ability to complete tasking independently with minimal direct supervision.

  • Familiarity with multiple operating systems (macOS, Windows, Linux, etc.).

  • Familiarity with at least one Relational Database Management System (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.).

  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Windows PowerShell and Linux Shell scripts.

  • Familiarity with modern cloud computing design practices such as microservices.

  • Familiarity with designing and operating highly available cloud networks at scale.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $78,000.00 - $120,000.00 - $162,000.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
