Job Summary:

Support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO) program as an Engineer to provide VistA/Cerner expertise to interface efforts. Collaborate with system integrator and provide expertise to ensure the interface design and development meet VA requirements. Support interface design, development, test, and cutover planning from a technical perspective. Review and provide comments on interface artifacts. Serve as project manager between multiple technical teams.


Minimum qualifications:

  • 15+ years of professional work experience
  • Ability to create strategies and plans for integration of multiple IT systems/subsystems into an operational unit, ensuring full functional and performance capabilities are retained
  • Able to coordinate with development and user teams to assess risks, goals, and needs and ensure that all are adequately addressed
  • Experienced in introducing new hardware or software into a new or existing environment while minimizing disruption and mitigating risks
  • Ability to see projects to completion in addition to performing feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management
  • Experience with VA VistA and/or DoD Health systems as well as Cerner/EHR deployment
  • Experience with engineering and technical aspects of system/medical device interfaces
  • Experience with technical change management/configuration management, and requirements management, especially as they relate to prioritization
  • Experience with using DoDAF or UML models to support technical analysis
  • Experience with large scale IT implementation
  • Experience with SDLC
  • Experience with Executive reporting
  • Cost conscience addressing goals
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent discipline is required, or an additional 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the VA
  • Experience implementing Electronic Health Records
  • Experience with interfacility consult modules in a hospital or commercial setting
  • Experience managing interfacility interface projects
  • Experience supporting and maintaining ambulatory or inpatient information systems
  • Experience with VA legacy systems, such as Patient-Centric Management Module
