Overview:
This position is directly responsible for the planning and implementation of Presbyterian's annual Shaping the Future (strategy) cycle, resulting in the formation of a long-term PHS Plan. The position also explores, directs and implements key business development opportunities, with an emphasis on products, services and offerings where Presbyterian can add value to purchasers and customers.

The position organizes the Shaping the Future cycle, collecting all appropriate data and producing the plans and work products necessary to influence the organizations strategy. The Director of Planning and Business Development works closely with Senior Vice President/Chief Strategy Officer and the One Presbyterian Leadership Team (OPLT) in ongoing planning and analysis, and works with leaders to create and align strategic initiative plans and business unit plans. Key resource for financial and customer analysis in strategic projects and programs, with an emphasis on system growth.

The position requires an ability to work effectively within a complex organization to drive results. Project management skills are desirable, as well as skills in research, analysis, business writing and problem solving.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Experience in business, healthcare or similar organization leadership roles in a multi-unit operation including several delivery businesses or a complex, service industry (non-health).
  • Strong understanding of integrated delivery systems, New Mexico markets and planning preferred.
  • Industry certifications in planning preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates annual Shaping the Future (strategic planning) cycle; collect appropriate data and produce and plan the necessary work products that influence the organization s strategy.


  • Provides analysis and content for One Presbyterian Leadership Team (OPLT), a committee of senior leaders charged with strategy and sustainability of the organization. Serves as staff to OPLT.
  • Assists Senior Vice President/Chief Strategy Officer in creating the annual PHS Plan.
  • Collaborates with senior leaders to produce and measure strategic initiatives and annual business unit plans; coordinates enterprise alignment among initiatives and business unit plans.


  • Working with Finance and Analytics Organization colleagues, incorporates data and analysis into the creation of formal business plans for strategic projects and programs.


  • Maintains and applies in-depth knowledge of PHS capabilities, competitors, market characteristics, industry trends, federal and state policy and more for planning purposes. Prepares competitive analysis of products, services and programs in order to evaluate competitive position and recommend interventions.
  • Develops and oversees inputs and outputs of the strategic planning process and specific measures in Presbyterians performance results (scorecard), such as growth targets.
  • Represents the organization to inside and outside constituents and customers through community service, formal presentations, and marketing efforts to ensure understanding and success of strategy and planning efforts.
  • Directs the day-to-day work of the Business Development Manager.
  • Performs other functions as required.
