Summary:

Greet, welcome, assist visitors & callers accordingly. Assist with clerical duties as needed, support executive assistants and Attendance Advocate as needed, refer public, parents & students appropriately in response to issues, assist in any emergencies, basic oral & written translations (Spanish/English) as needed, maintain sign in/sign out system.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet, welcome and assist visitors to the Education Center.
  • Manage a multi-line phone console including answering incoming calls, responding to callers’ inquiries, forwarding calls to appropriate individuals or voicemail boxes and taking and forwarding messages.
  • Assist visitors, answer inquiries, explain basic school/district procedures and requirements, monitor sign-in log, issue visitor passes.
  • Provide information and direct individuals to appropriate areas and meeting rooms.
  • Communicate with students, parents, office personnel, school staff, administrators and/or other district employees to respond to problems, issues and/or to assist during emergencies and drills.
  • Perform general clerical duties as directed.
  • Provide clerical support to District Attendance Advocate
  • May assist in coordinating and carrying out special projects, provide back up to other office personnel and/or functions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
  • Minimum of two years experience in general office occupations or equivalent education and computer experience.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English (must pass BVSD assessment).

Preferred:

  • Exemplary customer service and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, grammar and basic arithmetic.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work as a member of an office team, multi-task.
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, keep accurate records and be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with policy, maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job and handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computer, PC, Google and Microsoft Office experience.
  • Experience with Lawson and Infinite Campus programs is a plus.
  • Knowledge of BVSD policy.

Salary Information:

Salary Placementvaries according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule). BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process.
