JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Electronic Technician III provides engineering technical services to plan, design, modify, install, interface, test, evaluate, repair and document the operation and performance of airborne test instrumentation, data acquisition systems and ground support equipment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic and integrated circuits to the component level.
  • Upload and download instrumentation pods to/from aircraft.
  • Select and operate test equipment such as multi-meter, O-scope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, frequency meter, logic probe to accomplish specific tasks such as checkout, calibration, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Fabricate cables harnesses, populating electronic assemblies, soldering, crimping, and wire terminations to interface equipment to sensors, data acquisition units and test equipment.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Desired Knowledge and Experience:

  • Proficiency in analog and digital electronic fundamentals, the theory of solid-state devices, digital logic and techniques, RF modulation techniques and understanding of electromechanical drive mechanisms.
  • Advanced working knowledge of electronic schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, block diagrams and technical publications to build prototype electronic assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of thermocouples, temperature reference junctions, accelerometers, charge amplifiers, pressure transducers, strain gages, piezoelectric transducers, flow meters, transmitters and signal conditioners.
  • Hands-on electrical, instrumentation, and avionics maintenance on aircraft highly desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet. Outdoor duties may be performed on gravel or shingled roof. Climbing stairs, ladders, towers, and scaffolds, indoors or outdoors, is required. Government vehicle is used on an as-needed basis. Grease or oil may be found on working surfaces. Ability to work in a field environment with some shift work, at remote locations with occasional overnight assignments. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Travel to remote working locations may be required

  • Frequent exposure to weather and temperature extremes, drafts, noise, and dust.
  • Able to work in a field environment which will include shift work, overtime, and travel to remote locations.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

An associate's degree or higher from an accredited college; or technical schooling with courses in math, basic electronics, and microwave theory; or a military equivalent and a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience are required for this position.


In addition, an Electronic Technician III must possess the following qualifications:

  • International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET) certification
  • Comprehensive knowledge in general electronics
  • Demonstrated expertise in electronic, electro-mechanical, and computer systems and the test equipment used to maintain and repair equipment
  • Experience with tubes, transistors, logic gates, and/or high-power RF devices
  • Expert-level troubleshooting and soldering capabilities

The expected pay range for this position is $71,323 to $83,014

The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. JT4 LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.
