As an Engineering Manager you will lead a group of engineers who are responsible for the reliability, performance, scalability, and safe operability of stateful systems at Squarespace. We build software to automate and manage services with reliability-driven outcomes in mind, in an environment where system's high availability and consistency are paramount. You will work with our peer teams within the Infrastructure organization and our internal customers across the rest of Squarespace Engineering to deliver solutions that unlock and promote velocity across the whole organization. You'll help develop the careers of our engineers and in the process contribute to an environment where we enjoy our work and the accomplishment of our goals.

You will report directly to the Senior Director, Engineering. This position can be remote OR located in our New York office.

You'll Get To…

• You'll lead the SRE Database Engineering team responsible for relational databases, document databases, durable queues, caches, and naming services that back the core functionality of Squarespace's products
• Your scope of operation will cover a hybrid environment across Squarespace's data centers and the cloud as we continue to embrace the latter
• You will contribute to SRE organizational practices that consider the intersection of service reliability and operational costs to help SRE and service owners to grow sub-linearly as Squarespace's user base grows across a variety of products
• You will contribute and drive the adoption of a technological roadmap that balances developer experience and organizational velocity as we transform how we approach reliability in an hybrid environment with an eye toward global presence and scale

Who We're Looking For

• You have 5+ years of experience leading distributed teams of individual contributor engineers and engineering managers
• Experience in software engineering, data, *nix systems and in operating distributed systems at scale.
• Experience building relationships with the ability to galvanize and align teams around a mission, serving as an internal change agent to drive speed and innovation

Cash Compensation Range: $148,000 - $334,500 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Squarespace employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.
