Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced Extrusion/Die Shop Manager to build upon this reputation with an unwavering commitment to meeting our customers expectations, while creating a culture of value and engagement. The ideal candidate is an exceptionally organized professional who values team members and strives to develop future leaders and a robust process through personal interaction, hands-on training, and equitable accountability. They will be charged with developing a solid and deep extrusion & die shop team, capable of operating efficiently and extruding quality products that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. They will also help foster a “safe culture of engagement,” in which all employees feel safe, important, and become actively engaged in learning and applying best practices in manufacturing and customer service.

Objectives

  • Develop a team that understands fundamental print specifications, aluminum association standards and tolerances, and applies accurate inspection practices.
  • Improve overall die performance through die supplier relationships and measuring die mileage and performance.
  • Ensure extrusions meet or exceed customer expectations through visual, dimensional, mechanical properties inspection.
  • Develop and implement extrusion recipes for each profile and ensure extrusion teams utilize and input actual performance.
  • Facilitate growth and recognize achievements of our production teams.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and customers.
  • Be an effective and professional representative of our organization at all times, and in all places.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes to increase speeds, and improve metal finish, extrusion practices, and equipment maintenance.
  • Facilitate respectful and open dialogue with our customers, suppliers, and other departments.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Quote and offer recommendations on new die and product designs.
  • Lead extrusion and die shop leaders and provide necessary tools for them to be successful and to grow in their respectful capacities.
  • Analyze, investigate, and respond as necessary to product complaints or reported quality issues to ensure closure in accordance with company guidelines and external regulatory requirements.
  • Establish key metrics, measure and manage daily results.
  • Monitor and cycle count inventory of aluminum, spare parts, and dies.
  • Ensure transactions are entered correctly and timely.
  • Learn and follow dispatch and product requirements.
  • Work closely with maintenance to ensure PM’s are timely and accurate and equipment maintenance is excellent.
  • Work closely with other department managers and production teams to resolve flow or quality concerns.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Associates orBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Certification or Participation in Lean Manufacturing, AEC or other industry events/training.
  • Superb computer competence, including database management, Oracle experience, MS Office.
  • Knowledge and experience calculating optimal billet length, AAS tolerances, and inspection equipment for dimensions, hardness, finish, cool rate, etc.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of testing best practices, and implementing change where needed.
  • Capable of interpreting drawings, standards, and specifications provided by customers and suppliers, and providing recommendations for improvements to speed, finish, or weight.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing Tools
  • Experience with Oracle, MS Suite, AutoCad, Solidworks
  • Technical process knowledge of aluminum extrusion, anodizing, powder coat painting

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
