In this position you will be in a key role in the day-to-day successes of the operations.
The First-Line Supervisor of the Finishing Department will directly supervise and coordinate the activities of Coating, Priming, and Spraying Machine Setter Operators.
Location, Schedule, and Compensation: this position will require training for several months in the company's Mt. Tabor area facility: but permanent position will operate out of Canby. Standard working schedule is weekdays day shift: but overtime and occasional weekend work will be required. Company offers competitive benefits, PTO, Medical, Health, Dental, 401K in addition to a starting pay of $25-$30/hour depending on directly relevant work experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Guides, assigns, schedules and supervises the day to day work of employees as assigned to the department, in addition to ensuring work is completed on schedule.
- Provides input on job evaluations based on performance and goals set by Production Manager in a timely and constructive manner.
- Ensures each assigned worker follows all safety standards.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversees production of the Finishing Department, ensuring safety and sanitation standard and regulations are followed and quality work is being performed in a timely manner.
- Performs daily walkthroughs of the Finishing Department to confirm availability and use of proper materials and tools; recognizes and promptly addresses issues so that work can continue on schedule.
- Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
- Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
- Maintain operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
- Internally requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
- Set up and adjust machines and equipment.
- Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production areas.
- Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thorough understanding of coating, priming, and spraying in a production environment.
- Superior organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills.
- Ability to read and understand sales orders and other reports outlining specifications.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least five (5) years of related experience coating, priming, and spaying finished product required. This could be through staining, powder coating or painting of finished products.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to perform tasks at all machines.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
