As the face of The Green Thumb, the Garden Center Store Manager determines how the store is presented in the local garden center retail market. The main responsibilities for the store manager are to establish and maintain The Green Thumb standards of quality customer service by providing superior knowledge, expertise and guidance to the retail sales staff to ensure customers have a positive experience at the garden center. In addition, the store manager is accountable for overseeing the operation of the store to ensure maximum sales and profitability through maintaining and merchandising inventory; controlling expenses; and managing operating costs and shrinkage.

We are looking for an energetic and dedicated individual with proven leadership skills and abilities. The ideal candidate must possess experience in managing, training, and developing store staff to meet and exceed goals.

In addition, the ideal candidate must possess exceptional customer service and the ability to foster strong relationships with new and existing clients, customer and vendors.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of three (3) years previous garden center or landscaping experience preferred.

· Minimum one (1) year management experience required.

· Experience working with wholesale vendors required.

· Visual merchandising and/or design experience preferred.

· Skidsteer experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Extensive horticultural knowledge is required including plant identification.

· Excellent customer service and communication skills, including public speaking.

· Experience with Excel and POS software.

· Flexibility to work varied hours/days to oversee store operations.

· Ability to prioritize and delegate multi tasks.

· Ability to analyze information and find solutions to various problems.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs and move/maneuver merchandise.

· Standing and moving for extended periods of time indoors and outdoors.

· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
