JOURNEYMAN/JOURNEYWOMAN ELECTRICIAN

**Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to the Ottertail, MN area**

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Journeyman/Journeywoman Electrician will assist our customers in the maintenance, repair, and installation of their electrical systems, for both residential and commercial clients. We install and maintain the electrical wiring, fixtures, and home automation systems in buildings along with exterior landscapes, including irrigation time clocks, electric valves, low voltage lighting, and audio system wiring.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

· Trouble shoot, Installs and repairs of electrical wiring, plugs, panelboards, switchgear, switchboards and similar systems, and fixtures in buildings.

· Always carrying standard equipment and parts with you.

· Ensures all work complies with NEC electrical codes or authority jurisdiction.

· Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.

· Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed.

· Replaces conduit and wiring as needed.

· Replaces circuit breakers as needed.

· Installs of home security, camera’s, etc.

· Communication to customers so they can understand technical portions of electrical installations or repairs.

• Ordering replacement parts and equipment as needed

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to be successful in this role, but are not necessarily all-inclusive:

· Ability to read blueprints.

· Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.

· Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

· Ensuring adherence to all relevant safety regulations.

· Commuting between locations where the jobs are located.

· Logging time and resources spent on each task to calculate costs.

· Ability to install and maintain smart home security systems.

· Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Completion of a formal apprenticeship and valid electrician’s license required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.

· Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.

· Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
