Lab Assistant - Laguna Hills Job at PMDCA LLC
General Description:
Under the supervision of the Lab Manager, the Lab Assistant is responsible for a variety of duties throughout the lab. Receiving and accessioning patient specimens for processing, completing the appropriate CLIA Waived analysis, reporting and fielding basic customer inquiries. Cleans and maintains assigned areas and performs required instrument maintenance logs and associated laboratory reports. The Lab Assistant may be involved in minimal handling of Hazardous waste. Employees are responsible for following all Company policies and procedures. These policies and procedures will include adherence to regulatory standards such as CAP, CLIA and OSHA, including safety standards in performing all aspects of the functions below.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and accession patient specimens.
- Manage supplies, inventory and forecasting for laboratory
- Perform CLIA waived testing
- Perform daily QC documentation
- Maintain equipment and supplies in clean condition, including transferring used reagents from strainers and tissue processors to 90-day accumulation containers (55-gal. drums)
- May assist at off-site facilities as needed.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 4 year degree preferred
- Previous data entry experience and organizational skills.
- Must be meticulous.
- Ability to manage high work volume accurately at a fast pace and to work independently of supervision.
- Proficient in MS Office/Excel
- Proficient in LabDaq and LabNexus
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift from floor to waist up to twenty-five pounds.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
- Must be able to give and receive verbal and written instructions.
- Must be comfortable handling biological specimens.
- Must possess the ability to utilize visual and auditory senses to complete all job duties as assigned.
