Performs screening exams, diagnostic exams, and biopsies per departmental standards and under the radiologist guidelines.
Procedures may be performed on inpatients, outpatients, and those from day surgery. Will coordinate procedures with other departments as necessary including transport to and from other departments.
Assists the radiologist in performing biopsies by preparing the patient and having the necessary supplies available.
Coordinates with the ultrasound department when there is a need to perform breast sonography.
Explains the test to patient, in order to enlist cooperation and assistance.
Assists with clinical duties sending letters, reports filing.
Insures that ALARA standards are enforced within the mammography.
Reviews each Mammogram for technical accuracy and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
Maintains daily log correctly and accurately record patient information to ensure the quality of patient care.
Experience:
Prior experience with Mammography
Physical Demands:
Employee must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and over with the help of co-workers. Will be required to help patients both on and off exam table. Twisting, bending, pushing, stretching and pulling are all frequently done during and 8 hour work period. Employee required to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Equipment:
Film processor, Mammography Unit, Radiological Equipment, Wheelchair, Stretcher, Meditech Computer system, Rolloscopes, Film Files, Time clocks, laser printer.
