Job Description: Administrator

Department: Administrative Office, All Departments

Supervisor: Director of Operations

  • General Description
  • Establishes and directs overall operation of institution’s activities both internal and external, in order to provide excellent care to residents.
  • Coordinates these activities to insure compliance with established policies, procedures, and national, state and local standards.
  • Promotes public relations
  • Arranges and obtains transfer and working agreements with other health facilities and/or providers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Duties
  • Establishes policies pertaining to total patient care, personnel, consultants, financial status, public relations, maintenance of building and grounds, under board directives from the Executive Director
  • Explains such policies to staff and other concerned parties.
  • Reviews compliance with established policies and procedures by personnel and consultants.
  • Periodically reviews policies and makes changes as found necessary.
  • Prepares job descriptions and policy and procedure manuals for all departments.
  • Reviews compliance of institution with national, state, and local standards.
  • Selects competent personnel to supervise activities of all departments.
  • Meets with department heads at regular intervals.
  • Conducts in-service and supervisory training meetings.
  • Receives advice from all department heads on matters pertaining to department operation and external relationships.
  • Reviews and frequently checks competence of work force.
  • Assists personnel in establishing professional atmosphere.
  • Regularly checks financial status of facility.
  • Maintains efficient accounting system to meet needs of institution.
  • Directs that forecast budgets be prepared and changes in fee schedules be made to insure coverage of cost of operation.
  • Maintains liaison with community hospitals and other health facilities in the community and coordinates with their services through working and transfer agreements.
  • Represents institution in dealings with outside agencies including governmental and third party payers or sends representative. Includes matters concerning Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
  • Represents institution at top level meetings and institutes and participates in such meetings.
  • Reviews physical condition of facility. Directs repairs and new construction programs, within the financial capabilities of institution.
  • Authorized purchases of major equipment and supplies. Enters into contract required for ordinary operations of business with the exception of major construction capital expenditures.
  • Coordinates the identification of social service problems and makes referrals to outside agencies when required.

Responsibility: (Personnel and/or materials)

  • Shall be licensed in the State of Nebraska.
  • Liaison among the governing body, medical staff, and physicians whose patients reside in the facility.

  • Maintaining relationships with the community and with other health care facilities, organizations, and services
  • Assuring facility and staff compliance with all regulations
  • Any responsibilities prescribed by facility policy
  • Public relations.
  • Reporting to the Executive Director.
  • Know and adhere to patient’s Bill of Rights.
  • Working Conditions

  • Expected to work beyond normal working hours when necessary.

  • Personnel Specification
  • Experience in supervisory capacity in health facility.
  • Must fulfill license requirement of this state.
  • Advanced training in nursing home administration through workshops and institutes.
  • Sound knowledge of personnel administration
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, laws pertaining to nursing home operation.
  • Ability to deal with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Knowledge of local economic conditions and ability to adjust cost of operation to meet community ability to pay for services.
  • Ability to keep abreast of changes in nursing home field.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
