PHLEBOTOMIST - 1ST SHIFT Job at Lakeview Specialty Hosp

Performs venipunctures and skin punctures competently and expediently. Has thorough knowledge of test requirements, assists in Clinical Laboratory as needed. Responsibilities include bleeding time tests, blood cultures, blood samples.
Other duties:
- Obtains and/or Processes blood specimens and non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, feces, and throat swabs for laboratory testing.
- Knowledge of proper tubes, equipment and volume for proper specimen collection and completes duties in a time efficient manner, knows how to prioritize STAT orders, ASAP orders, scheduled orders, and outpatients.
- Displays courteous, professional manner toward patients, co-workers, nursing and medical staff.
- Accessioning and processing specimens to prepare for laboratory testing.
- Prepares specimens for reference laboratory dispatch testing.
- Maintains proper record management and bookkeeping.
- Maintain a clean, obstacle free, well organized and properly stocked laboratory and corresponding areas of the facility.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment by adhering to facility policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. HIGHLY Preferred: Certified phlebotomy technologist or medical assistant course.
- Licensure: Prefer CMA, RMA or CPT, CPR certified. preferred. CPR certified.
- Experience: Preferred one - two years of hospital experience.
