Job Title: Part-Time Security Screener - Courts

Salary: $15.00

Job Type: Part-time (16 to 28 hours per week)

Work hours: Varies between 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma/GED, knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment. Individual must be able to understand and follow oral and written directions. Individual must communicate clearly and courteously.

Nature of Work: Performs routine inspections of all persons and packages entering the Courts building; provides the public with necessary information, directions or other forms of assistance. Remains alert to potential incidents in public hallways, notifies supervisors or deputies when necessary. Additional duties may include the pick-up and delivery of mail, typing correspondence, comparing and verifying dockets, or working in security control monitoring cameras, answering phones, coordinate with jurisdictions and facilities in order to facilitate the transportation of inmates to and from the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office.

All appointees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

VRS Contribution: All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
