Sterile Processing Tech Job at Swope Health Services
JOB SUMMARY:
The Sterile Processing Department is seeking a full-time Sterile Processing Technician to work 40 hours per week (10:00am -7:00pm). Professional candidate coordinates and collaborates the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilizing and dispensing of reusable surgical instruments, equipment and supplies needed for daily surgical procedures, bedside procedures, dental instruments, and other related departments.
**Sign on Bonus** $1000 for candidates who are selected to be paid in two increments-$500 at hire and $500 after 90 days of employment (applies to external applicants only)
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for control of all parts of the sterilization process:
Decontamination;
Prep, pack, sterilize;
Documentation of sterilization; and
Sterile storage including remediation of equipment failures and hazards.
Provide integrity and sterility of products and services for the customers and staff.
Work in conjunction with the clinics and staff to provide timely sterile products.
Maintain consistency and continuous workflow between clinics and SPD
Operate and maintain Steris machines; keep records of loads completed, items of loads and maintain procedures performed.
Operate and maintain decontamination equipment
Operate and maintain all machines in the process and keeping records of loads completed, items in loads, and maintenance procedures performed.
Monitor and maintain appropriate records to remain compliant with applicable regulatory agencies, as well as reporting occurrences to supervisors.
Maintain strong working/collaborative relationship with other departments to ensure flow and continuity of services.
Adhere to annual education requirements as outlined for Swope Health Services Associates.
Ordering of proper supplies and equipment (upon approval) to complete the job.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within (60) days of hire.
One year of Central Service or Sterile Processing experience is strongly preferred
Central Service Technician Certification preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and ENVIRIONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Physically demanding, high-stress environment
Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
Pushing and pulling heavy objects
Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
Manual and finger dexterity
Hand and eye coordination
Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Working under stressful conditions
Must have a flexible work schedule
Working with controlled steam, air, and hot water
