Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, this position is responsible for assisting certified YSL Aquatic Instructors during lessons. This position will work only under the supervision of a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor.
Essential Functions & Position Responsibilities:
- Assist aquatics instructors during swim classes.
- Be prepared for class. Have all equipment available and ready prior to the swimming class. Assist in putting away all equipment after swim classes.
- Always maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals.
- Always ensure a clean and safe pool environment.
- Engage in active listening with members to build relationships, understand everyone's goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in achieving those goals.
- Attend mandatory monthly in-service training. Attend mandatory twice per year association training.
- May be required to work one on one with individual students during group classes.
- All other duties as assigned.
E ducation & Experience :
- A Swim Aide position is ideally for applicants 14 to 15 years old.
- No experience necessary.
P hysical Demands :
- Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
- May be required to be in the pool for a long time.
- At times, be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
