GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
Systems Infrastructure Engineer I:
The Systems Infrastructure Engineers role is to install, configure, administer, optimize, and support systems and related components to achieve reliability and performance from the various Clackamas ESD supported applications and services both on-premises and in the cloud. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the systems environments. Particular emphasis is placed on integrating disparate systems with varying locations and methods of data exchange. The Systems Infrastructure Engineer will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center/server farm. This position is entry-level and focuses on client/partner systems.

Systems Infrastructure Engineer II:
The Systems Infrastructure Engineers role is to install, configure, administer, optimize, and support systems and related components to achieve reliability and performance from the various Clackamas ESD supported applications and services both onpremises and in the cloud. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the systems environments. Particular emphasis is placed on integrating disparate systems with varying locations and methods of data exchange. The Systems Infrastructure Engineer will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center/server farm. This position is professional-level and focuses on both client/partner and county/state-wide systems.

TECHNOLOGY SERVICES:
Our Technology Services team is well known and highly regarded for providing many regional services that support the needs of local school districts, more than 30 government organizations and the ESD. We use our on-site 4,000- square-foot data center as well as AWS/Azure/GCC to provide integral network support to our clients. Some of the services we provide include regional student information and ERP systems, private cloud hosting, data center colocation, ISP, SIP, network design and maintenance, firewall, IP allocation, DNS, network security, network monitoring, and problem resolution.

CLACKAMAS EDUCATION SERVICE DISTRICT:
Clackamas ESD is proud to serve 10 Clackamas County school districts and other regional and state government agencies, providing data center and technology support, as well as early learning programs and programs for children with special needs, teacher/staff support and administrative services. We ensure students and families in all of our communities big and small have access to equitable education services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Systems Infrastructure Engineer I:

  • Modify, test, and support enterprise software, systems, databases, devices, applications, products, and patches to integrate into networked systems for clients.
  • Maintain a secure, compliant, robust, reliable, scalable and efficient infrastructure ensuring availability of client systems.
  • Assist in maintaining data center/server room security features, including environmental alarms, access restrictions, and policies. Requires onsite work.
  • Maintain confidentiality of both design of system infrastructure and architecture as well as data the systems contain.
  • Resolve technical problems that are escalated from client staff.

Systems Infrastructure Engineer II:

  • Design, develop, evaluate, build, modify, test and configure enterprise software, systems, databases, devices, applications, products and patches to integrate into networked systems for clients; support county, consortium, and state systems.
  • Provide a secure, compliant, robust, reliable, scalable and efficient infrastructure ensuring availability of client systems.
  • Assist in maintaining data center/server room security features, including environmental alarms, access restrictions, and policies. Requires onsite work.
  • Maintain confidentiality of both design of system infrastructure and architecture as well as data the systems contain.
  • Resolve complex technical problems that are escalated beyond the expertise of the Systems Infrastructure I staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Systems Infrastructure Engineer I:

  • Working knowledge in managing enterprise server environments.
  • Working knowledge in server virtualization and hypervisors, such as VMWare
  • Working knowledge of installing, configuring, and maintaining all manner of server hardware and associated network equipment, including local and network based storage technologies
  • Understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, firewall management, and operating system configurations
  • Working knowledge of managing DNS, using BIND and Microsoft DNS as an example

Systems Infrastructure Engineer II:

  • At least four years equivalent work experience in a position responsible for managing enterprise server environments
  • Advanced knowledge and recent successful experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows Server environments
  • Recent successful experience with server virtualization and hypervisors, such as VMWare
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manner of server hardware and associated network equipment, including local and network based storage technologies
  • Experience configuring and managing Active Directory environments and other identity management solutions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Systems Infrastructure Engineer II:

  • Experience deploying and managing enterprise backup and web application hosting software
  • Experience managing database environments, such as Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL
