CSG is organized by core customer-facing lines of business to manage and grow programs within NASA, NOAA, the NNSA, as well as civilian federal government agencies. CSG also oversees a growing direct commercial business supporting the commercial space sector in the national interest.
This position will support the Federal and Commercial Programs (FCP) Directorate by providing the programmatic coordination necessary to enhance the Aerospace value delivered to customers. The successful candidate will scope requirements for and initiates acquisition of technical support from appropriate corporate resources including cost and economic or market analysis specialists, as appropriate. The chosen individual will be responsible for improving the overall quality of task execution, project coordination and control related activities across the FCP portfolio by performing a variety of planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting responsibilities on operational components of projects.

This position can be performed remotely with possibility of travel to El Segundo, CA or Arlington VA. It is also available as a hybrid work arrangement as well in El Segundo, CA or Arlington, VA which is highly preferred.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead various FCP technical program improvement initiatives. Develop recommendations to support efficiencies and cost savings, including improvements for collecting, consolidating, and analyzing project data to extract salient takeaways for process improvement.
  • Develop a pragmatic, lean set of project oversight standard methodologies for consistency across the FCP portfolio, and be successful at execution for a range of project sizes and customers.
  • Partner with technical PI’s (principal investigators), acquire a basic understanding of the project, and work with PI’s to proactively identify and remediate risks & issues, and escalate where necessary, leveraging :
  • Work experience to anticipate potential risks, and implement mitigation measures
  • Problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent for customer satisfaction and corporate delivery goals
  • Support the FCP business rhythm; perform technical analysis, maintain metrics, present reports, derive pragmatic monitoring strategies, and collaborate on improving workflows and routines to enhance value to Aerospace customers and increase the value of program execution back to the corporation.
  • Support development and maintenance of consolidated project reports for portfolio rollups throughout the fiscal year, including updates to backlog data, EACs, etc.
  • Support a range of matrixed technical project teams as needed, filling oversight gaps, providing needed support increase value to the customer and minimize the cost of execution.
  • Develop a knowledge base of FCP customers and project objectives to increase oversight support to project teams as customer work grows and evolves.
  • Support monthly FCP Directorate Program Review updates, lead oversight discussions to provide Directorate staff with status insights to make as needed course corrections to increase the quality of directorate operations:
  • Ensure status information is current
  • Project execution performance is provided with takeaways
  • Financial forecast projections are updated
  • Opportunities for follow-on work are identified and actioned
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree from in a technical or scientific related subject area
  • 6 or more years of technical project/task management experience to develop and maintain effective operations management processes, reporting, procedures and systems.
  • Experience leading technical process improvement efforts to reduce time and cost for generating required results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, with the ability to export, maintain, and refine data for analysis.
  • Exhibits exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and projects, and handle multiple priorities and projects at one time
  • Excellent written communication skills - organize sophisticated materials and concepts in clear and logical manner
  • Excellent verbal communication skills - clear, concise, persuasive; builds consensus through speaking; polished, professional style
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational needs
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, to self-initiate activities, and to work within timelines
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a secret security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Technical master’s degree, and/or MBA
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with the commercial space industry, Federal (non-DOD, non-IC) departments and agencies, FFRDCs
  • An active Security clearance is a plus

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
