Job Title: Utility Compliance Manager

Wage Status: Exempt

Reports To: Vice President of Compliance and Strategic Development

Department Objectives:

The Compliance Department builds, implements, audits, trains and monitors processes, policies and practices to ensure all are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, as well as regulatory agencies such as HUD, DOJ and FTC.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop strategies and documented processes for a company-wide coordination to remain compliant with Utility Requirements on an on-going basis
  • Complete regulatory filing and audits for Utility Commissions
  • Manage Green Energy initiatives, tracking and reporting involving utilities
  • Manage and collaborate with Regional Team on the utility onboarding process for acquisitions and management takeovers
  • Act as the technical lead and point of contact with utility vendors, entities, audits, and present solutions to possible violation matters
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to review processes for utility compliance, discuss concerns and offer improvement suggestions
  • Provide technical expertise to management on utility compliance issues related to regulatory requirements and proposed regulations or standards
  • Engage Regional Team on their responsibilities for utility compliance and billing
  • Represent First Communities at apartment association and industry forums in a positive, professional, and appropriate manner
  • Stay current on company policies and procedures
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned or necessary

Education, Knowledge, Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Multifamily experience Preferred
  • Yardi experience Preferred
  • Strong commitment to company goals and values
  • Ability to work well with a variety of personalities
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to develop relationships with all departments and associates
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills
  • Valid Driver’s License is required

Job Expectations:

Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
