Job Title: WAREHOUSE MANAGER
Department: Warehouse
Reports To: Plant Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Backup: Warehouse Lead
COMMENTS : This job description reflects assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
SUMMARY: The Warehouse Manager performs functions to plan, coordinate and manage shipping, receiving, warehousing and inventory control activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies and standard operating procedures for the warehouse department.
Plan, schedule and track departmental activities including cycle counting, inventory management, asset management, inventory transactions, auditing and reporting.
Integrate departmental changes and new processes.
Develop and manage annual departmental budget.
Recommend capital projects to increase efficiency and services of the warehousing departments.
Optimize warehousing laying and space, inventory turns, pallet exchange and minimize scrap and obsolete products.
Prepare documents, reports and analyses.
Work in conjunction with Corporate Transportation & Logistics Manager to source carriers, research freight rates and negotiate freight contracts. Monitor transportation providers’ performance levels, recommend improvement practices or service enhancements and take necessary action.
Investigate complaints such as damaged items, lost goods, shipping delays, etc.
File claims with insurance carrier for lost or damaged goods.
Work with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with the activities of other functions.
Manage employees engaged in shipping, receiving, warehousing and inventory control, and safety activities.
Hire, train, monitor and assist employees.
Enforce company policies establish performance standards and evaluate employee status.
Promote good housekeeping conditions and safe operating procedures.
Responsible for Food Quality, Safety and Legality.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in related field or equivalent.
A minimum of 2 – 4 yrs experience Supervisory/Managerial experience, in warehouse environment is required.
Food processing, liquid filling/bottling or consumer goods manufacturing/packaging experience is a plus.
Must be well organized, results oriented, & have effective problem solving ability
Must possess strong leadership & team building skills
Must possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively
Must be computer literate – Microsoft Office Programs & D365 is desirable
Must be a self-starter and work without supervision
Strong planning and organization skills and the ability to meet or exceed customer delivery expectations in accordance with company objectives, specified delivery/service levels and planned profit objectives.
Show good judgment and sound reasoning skills
Ability to delegate authority
