Phyllis Wheatley Community Center (PWCC) is an established nonprofit located in North Minneapolis and is looking for dedicated and qualified people to join our staff! Currently seeking a HOPE (Helping Our People Evolve) Youth Program Coordinator to be responsible for the successful day-to-day operations of a trauma program and associated activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate multiple group courses using approved PWCC curriculum.
  • Maintain a case load of clients in addition to group facilitation.
  • Develop a trusting relationship with assigned clients.
  • Provide information and referrals to emergency shelter, permanent housing, chemical or mental health crises, food resources, and other resources as needed.
  • Develop relationships with community partner organizations that provide services to crime victims to ensure access and responsiveness to clients’ needs.
  • Assess risk for violence or other abuse and conduct safety planning.
  • Adhere to the ethical and legal codes and policies regarding client confidentiality.
  • Maintain regular communication with Hennepin County on the progress of the performance plan.
  • Document all visits with clients, including contact information, on at least a weekly basis.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or significant training in education, social work, counseling, or human services field.
  • Relevant, recent experience working in the human services or healthcare fields.
  • Experience in group-facilitated training or psychotherapy highly desirable.
  • Additional training in one or more of the following: conflict de-escalation, negotiation, sexual assault, human trafficking, domestic violence, victim services, or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to engage men, women, and youth who are offenders and/or victims of violence, assisting them to assess their needs andoffering emotional support during times of crisis.
  • Knowledge of Hennepin County and Federal Government benefit programs.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients across many dimensions of diversity, including cultural, socioeconomic, gender or sexual orientation, and spiritual or religious beliefs.
  • Familiarity with principles of trauma-informed care, including historical trauma
  • Ability to work independently or in a team to assist clients in crisis during non-traditional hours.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of the importance of customer service and being professional
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict management.
  • Use good judgment in recognizing the scope of authority.
  • Ability to travel to within Hennepin County to meet clients.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish, build, and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, volunteers, consultants, and more.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

· Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet PWCC’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state and working remotely).
