The Metallurgist will assist the Director of Quality in monitoring, testing, and documenting daily production with respect to customer and industry requirements to ensure we meet and exceed our customers expectations for quality, customer service and on-time performance. This position will also be involved in the development of PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, implementing SPC and quality improvement projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Improve process capabilities and efficiency allowing the company to expand, increase market share and improve profitability.
  • Maintain all facets of the company’s quality system in accordance with ISO 9000/9001.
  • Develop and implement new processes for producing stainless steel strip and foil.
  • Integrate new equipment into the standard process.
  • Determine root cause, implement and verify corrective actions for internal rejections and customer complaints.
  • Assist customers in developing standards for new applications.
  • Review customer purchase orders to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Train laboratory personnel, maintain and upgrade laboratory equipment.
  • Monitor daily process quality.
  • Resolve process problems, and supervise orders with special requirements.
  • Train production team to better understand the manufacturing process, customer requirements and methods to improve quality and increase effiency.
  • Assist in customer and supplier visits, audits, and problem solving meetings.

Job Requirements :

Metallurgy/ Materials Science or Engineering/ Technical Degree

Strong Excel, Word, Power and Internet navigation skills

Strong analytical skills · Self-starter, creative thinker and problem solver

Must be detailed oriented, organized and flexible

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

Metals experience a strong plus

Supervisory experience

Hands on approach with laboratory, plant and office personnel.
