Overview:
The Pictsweet Company is growing! We are currently looking for production associates to join our vegetable processing facility in Bells, TN. These associates strive to produce quality branded products in a fast-paced, safe, and clean environment.
Responsibilities:
Job Duties Include:
  • Responsible for ensuring and monitoring all quality and food safety systems in place for the production of quality products manufactured under clean and safe conditions.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulations relating to food safety and personnel safety such as FDA, USDA, OSHA, and TOSHA. Complies with all other regulations and laws affecting the company (business law, trade secrets, personnel practices, etc.)
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures, which include SOPs, Employee Handbook, Food Quality Policies, GMP Handbook, HACCP, and Pictsweet Safety Procedures.
  • Enforces company rules, such as attendance, food safety, production quality, safety, GMPs, and efficiency. Disciplines subordinates when non-compliance occurs.
  • Coordinates production scheduling with management, warehouse, quality control, and maintenance personnel.
  • Monitors production lines and work areas. Visually inspects work areas and production equipment. Ensures equipment operates properly. Notifies maintenance when repairs need to be completed.
  • Monitors the hourly HACCP checks and ensures compliance with standards and procedures. Takes corrective action if checks are out of control or not being completed correctly.
  • Serves as a first responder to accidents and contacts Human Resources when an accident occurs.
  • Directs, assigns work to, corrects, disciplines, trains, and evaluates personnel.
  • Monitors and evaluates hourly employees and counsels and disciplines as necessary.
  • Trains employees and explains and demonstrates work tasks to new workers, or assigns less experienced workers to more experienced workers for further training.
  • Authorizes temporary changes in job duties and corresponding wage rates.
  • Maintains positive employee relations within the department, resolves worker problems, and collaborates with employees to assist in problem resolution.
  • Directs daily production schedule. Notifies Manager when there are problems with product.
  • Monitors and evaluates production performance to ensure performance standards are met. Adjusts product, manpower, and equipment resources as needed.
  • Identifies problems and develops appropriate solutions.
  • Implements corrective action when process deviations occur in accordance with the facilities HACPP program and notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Controls costs and operates within budget parameters.
  • Maintains appropriate production records and statistical reports.
  • Communicates frequently with plant management regarding production. Anticipates and resolves problems.
  • Assist in both internal and external food safety audits.
  • Conducts food safety and personnel safety training. Training includes, but isn’t limited to machine guarding, lock-out tag-out, PPE, cross contamination, food allergens, critical control points and other topics.
  • Ensures a safe work place. Follows Pictsweet Hazardous Communication Plan, Lock-out/Tag-out Program, Process Safety Management Plan, and all applicable safety standards.
  • Serves on the Emergency Response Team and participates in all required meetings. Reports to plant during the event of an ammonia leak, and assist the team in a response.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Must have Bachelor’s Degree if less than ten years’ supervisory experience.


Experience:
  • Must have ten years’ experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing for food environment. A Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for experience.

Special Skills:
  • Must be willing to work long hours in a physically demanding environment
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) helpful but not required
  • Must be computer proficient with spreadsheets and word-processing
  • Must become familiar with Kronos Time system within 3 months of hire
  • Must reside within 15 miles of Bells, TN
