Camp Aerie Director Position Description
Camp Aerie operates for 5 weeks in the summer, July through the first week of August. The Camp Director is charged with creating a fun, caring, and inclusive environment for the Camp Aerie campers. They are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the campers and camp staff and are responsible for the planning, coordinating, and overseeing the daily operations of Camp Aerie. The Camp Director reports to Field School administration and keeps them abreast of camp developments (enrollment, etc.).
Camp Director duties include, but are not limited to:
- Creation and implementation of Camp Programming
- Camp set-up and break down
- Hiring and management of camp staff
- Establishes and manages staff schedules and expectations
- Assigns and delegates camp staff duties
- Coordination and contact with parents (beginning with Spring registration and during the camp session)
- Coordination and contact with all camp contractors (Rivanna River Company, Mint Springs, etc.)
- General care of camp on school grounds (i.e., materials, trash/ recycling, restrooms)
- Duties as assigned by Field School administration
- Coordinating with Field School’s Business Manager on the camp budget
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $1,000.00 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday

- Crozet, VA 22932: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- working with children in a Camp Program: 3 years (Required)
- Working as a Camp Director: 1 year (Required)
- Planning programming for campers: 3 years (Required)
- Supervising a staff: 1 year (Required)
