Summary/Objective

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for identifying customers and market opportunities in the specialty thermoforming industry. This individual will be responsible for building effective relationships with all levels of the customer organization and will position DALB as a preferred partner and supplier. This position recognizes strategic growth areas related to DALB capabilities and creates market demand to expand DALB revenue and market share. This role is responsible for meeting both sales and new business growth targets by selling current capabilities or products to new customers. Internally this position advises and councils the DALB organization by steering new product development and capability expansion.

Essential Functions

  • Educate direct and indirect customers about DALB products and services.
  • Understand and articulate both short and long term customer needs; including material requirements, application needs, new product introductions and new business opportunities to the DALB organization.
  • Gain credibility and customer trust across multiple disciplines including sourcing, design, engineering, manufacturing and strategic leadership.
  • Propose solutions based on Customer needs and DALB manufacturing capabilities.
  • Develop a robust pipeline of new business opportunities for DALB through direct and indirect sales channels.
  • Collaborate with DALB Engineering to support the specification and design process for new products or applications.
  • Develop materials and technology expertise through networking, industry events, relevant publications, and continued education. Become a subject matter expert capable of representing DALB.
  • Evaluate and report market and industry trends, competitive intelligence, and technology gaps to the company.
  • Leverage market and industry trends and the customers unmet needs to identify opportunities that differentiate DALB products and drive new opportunities for growth.
  • Identify strategic relationships with industry customers and suppliers that could benefit DALB.
  • Maintain key business development contacts with current and potential customers, industry leaders, and suppliers as well as all appropriate records, metrics and documentation.
  • Prepare quarterly status reports with updated analysis on new sales to budget, new projects, market trends, competitive advantages and disadvantages
  • Serves as an account manager for assigned opportunities
  • Advises executive leadership on status or actions required for existing and potential business development opportunities
  • Develops and administers schedules, opportunity pipeline, account plans and is responsible for budgets.
  • Travel extensively to be the face of DALB at the customers location and completes weekly expense reports.
  • Drive development of Market Collateral and content to promote DALB products and capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively use ERP systems and other internal business systems

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 10 years of business development experience
  • Background in the Plastics or Thermoforming industry with knowledge of key companies and suppliers
  • Demonstrated experience managing key customer relationships and closing strategic opportunities
  • Successful experience building and managing a territory

No Direct Reports.
