Job Description
Grace is seeking a Warehouse Lead Operator to join our dynamic team in Houston. This role will also serve as a Step-Up Supervisor qualified to fill in during the absence of the Supervisor for the Houston Site. Serves as working (lead operator), working hand in hand with Warehouse Operators in the shipping, receiving, packaging, maintenance as well as floor leadership and direction, including, but not limited to Forklift and narrow aisle lift operation, bulk operation, super sack operation, tank loading and yard organization.
Responsibilities
- Serves as working (lead operator), works a job in assigned/qualified area and provides leadership across all areas of the site locations.
- Lead shift in making day to day decisions to support the site safety, quality, and production objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement and completion of tasks as assigned to Operators.
- Provide continuous performance feedback to ensure that targets are being met.
- Drive consistency and accountability regarding performance dialogues, and common procedures.
- Provide open and honest feedback to Site Leadership to help set the direction of site activities and performance.
- Identify and communicate areas for improvement to support staff.
- Report EHS incidents and document using the appropriate system.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and lead, as assigned, daily safety meetings and Tier meetings.
- Participate in site EHS programs (job audit program,5S, etc.)
- Direct activities of operators in the event of incidents or site emergencies.
- Work in conjunction with Supervisor and Manager on investigations and complete findings by assigned dates.
- Helping in the site compliance with all agencies, including audits and compliance to OSHA, EHSS, ISO, RCMS.
- Creation of order packets for distribution to the operations team. Including bookings, marks, GHS labeling, product labeling and control of the various information centers throughout the site.
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
Required Qualifications
- Position requires at least 3 years front line leadership experience and/or 5 years operations experience including warehouse and distribution operations.
- Must have forklift experience as well as willing to become yard mule certified.
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications, problem-solving and data interpretation skills.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions oral and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work with all employees through active listening skills, open feedback, maintained confidentiality, respect, and trust.
- HS Diploma or equivalent
